The province of Elassona is known for its many important religious monuments, the most important of which is the Monastery of Olympiotissa. Built in the 13th century it dominates prominently the northwest part of the city, it’s located on a hill just above RiverSide Rooms and it’s one of the oldest surviving Byzantine monuments in Thessaly.

Visitors can also visit the Monastery of Agia Triada in Sparmos which is located on the southwestern Olympus and the Holy Monastery of the Channel or the Birth of the Virgin Mary located on the east side of Karya near Olympus.

The monastery of Agios Dimitrios “Valetsiko” is located above the village of Tsaritsani built on a location of wild beauty.

The Monastery of the Holy Trinity, the Church of Saints Anargyri & the Church of the Assumption are located near the village of Livadi below the Mount of Titaros.

The Monastery of Holy Transfiguration in “Palaiokarya” near Kranea and the Monastery of the Ascension of Christ, west of the village of Sykia, are also located on the massif of Antichasia.
